Ingredients
1tablespoonbread crumbs
2 1/4cupsall-purpose flour
1teaspoonsalt
1 3/4cupslight brown sugar
1/2teaspoonground cloves
1tablespooncinnamon
1 1/2tablespoonscardamom
2 1/4teaspoonsbaking soda
1 1/4cupsmilk
2wholeeggsseparated
2tablespoonsbuttermelted
Instructions
Warm the oven to 325°F. Butter a cake form (9×5 inches) and dust the inside with bread crumbs.
Mix all dry ingredients (all-purpose flour, salt, cinnamon, brown sugar, baking soda, ground cloves and ground cardamom).
Mix all wet ingredients (milk, melted butter, egg yolks).
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well.
Beat egg whites stiff and fold these into the batter. Don't overmix, but make sure you have no visible clouds of egg white.
Pour the batter in the cake form and bake in the oven for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
